LyondellBasell’s polyolefins plant at Bayport has achieved a remarkable safety record of seven years and 5 mln hours without a lost-time incident for employees, resident and non-resident contractors and visitors.
A lost time incident is any injury serious enough to require a person to miss work. The last lost-time incident at Bayport for LyondellBasell employees was March 7, 2002, and for maintenance contractor KBR was Dec. 15, 1997. The instrumentation and electrical contractor ITI has never had an lost-time accident since it entered the site in 1975. The plant has also worked more than 4 years and 8 months without a recordable injury, as of the end of March.
