Lyondell’s PO/SM plant in Texas to restart next month

24-Aug-09
As demand for propylene oxide and derivatives revitalizes, Lyondell Chemical Company plans to restart a propylene oxide/styrene monomer (PO/SM) unit at Channelview, Texas. The plant that was idled in December 2008 as demand deteriorated amid global economic slowdown, will return to service in September. Through its global units and joint ventures in USA, Europe and Asia, the company has the capacity to produce nearly 200,000 tpa pa of propylene oxide. These facilities include two units at Channelview and Pasadena in Texas, at Botlek and Maasvlakte in Netherlands, at Fos-sur-Mer in France, and a joint venture in Japan.
