At a conference hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), the significant role of the Middle East region in general, and the Gulf region in particular, in developing the international petrochemical industries was highlighted. This region has become the world's largest producer and supplier of petrochemicals, with the value of petrochemical industries in the Middle East reached US$33 billion during 2003 and 2004, with a regional rate of growth that stood at around 15%.
