Mitsubishi Chemical's naphtha cracker faces unexpected shut down

Japan's leading petrochem company, Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. shuttered a naphtha cracker at Mizushima in Western Japan. The cracker-which has ethylene production capacity of 496,000 tpa-was unexpectedly shut down led by an immediate inspection after sensing an unusual odour from the cracker. The duration of cracker shut down is unknown.
