Owing to a minor crack in the piping joint, Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical Corp had temporarily closed downed its naphtha plant in Mizushima plant. The plant, which has the ethylene production capacity of 450,000 mtpa, is expected to be on stream by Oct 23 following the replacement of the cracked pipe joint. However, the company will continue to run its Kashima-based plant at 80-85% operating rates.
