Azerbaijan to initiate work on large scale petrochem complex by 2009

South Caucasian nation of Azerbaijan is expected to see the commencement of a new large scale petrochemical complex by 2009. The modern petrochemical project, to be located in industrial zone between Sumgait and Absheron, is expected to lay its foundation stone in 2009 and be fully realized by 2012. The new state-of-the-art petrochem complex will certainly allow Azerbaijan to strengthen its non-oil economy and produce higher-quality and more competitive oil products for export. The feasibility study of a proposed petrochemicals complex project will be submitted to the Government of Azerbaijan in mid-January, 2009.
