Mitsui Engg wins 100 bln yen order from Sumitomo in Saudi Arabia

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co has been awarded an order to construct two plants to produce raw materials for synthetic fibers and resins as part of the petrochemical project being planned by Sumitomo Chemical Co in Saudi Arabia. Cost is estimated at 100 bln yen and completion of these plants is slated for 2008. Mitsui Engineering is to build a plant with production capacity of 600,000 tpa of ethylene glycol. Also, Mitsui and an engineering subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical will jointly build facilities capable of producing 200,000 tpa of propylene oxide, which is used in making polyurethane.
