Consortium plans to infuse 10,000 cr for downstream petrochem projects

A Consortium of Gujarat government promoted companies of Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL), Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC) and Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizer Company (GNFC) have formed a joint venture to float a new chemical project at Dahej. An investment outlay of Rs. 10,000 crore is being planned for the proposed projects including units to manufacture phenol, bisphenol and polycarbonate for use in synthetic rubber, PVC and ethylene dichloride industries. The group is mulling options to source raw material like ethylene, propylene from petroleum majors to establish a reliable source of feedstock supply source.
