Nova introduces copolymer resins for microwavable packaging

18-May-06
Nova Chemicals Corporation has commercially introduced foamable DYLARK® FG resins, a new family of styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) copolymer resins for microwavable packaging. The resins are designed for take-out food containers and home meal replacement packaging, and provide structural rigidity at high temperatures for safe microwave re-heating and superior insulation to maintain hot food temperatures in transit. Packaging made with foamable DYLARK FG resins provides leak resistance and stiffness at high temperatures for safe handling. Insulating properties result in packaging that is cool to the touch yet keeps food hotter longer. These resins are FDA-compliant, and can be processed on existing extrusion foam equipment and features lower part costs compared to polypropylene.
