Several positive corporate earnings reports has infused optimism about the recovery of the US economy, propping up oil prices at the end of last week. Positive data from the economies of the eurozone and Germany also gave oil a lift. New York's main futures contract, light sweet crude for September rose past US$68 a barrel, and in
London, Brent North Sea crude for September delivery rose past US$70.
