Oil prices are rising, and have pushed above US$51 a barrel, as U.S. light crude traded at US$51.24 a barrel, and London's Brent crude rose to US$51.63 a barrel. This rise has been recorded even as crude stocks in the United States climbed to 6 year highs and OPEC kept exports at high volumes. Government data released on Wednesday showed U.S. crude stocks rose 2.6 million barrels last week to 327 million barrels, their highest since July 1999.
U.S. crude prices, which dipped briefly below $50 this week, are 12% below the record-high of US$58.28 reached in early April
