Karnataka has decided to seek the Prime Minister's intervention to get clearance from the Petroleum Ministry's approval for its Rs 22,000 crore mega petrochemicals project proposed near Mangalore by ONGC. This is the first time that Karnataka was getting massive investment of Rs 22,000 crore, and the state hopes to commence work on the project in about three months.
Hurdles in securing central clearance follow the reservation being expressed by Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar.
