The Government seems firm about Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's (ONGC) mega investment plans in petrochemical projects and the special economic zone (SEZ) at Mangalore. Currently. ONGC has a 9.69 million ton refinery at Mangalore, proposes to set up petrochemical units in the Mangalore SEZ. The foundation stone laying ceremony had to be delayed as the Prime Minister's aircraft could not land due to bad weather on June 22. The Government is committed to the project and the foundation laying function would take place soon.
