Perstorp acquires specialty chemicals business from Rhodia and Lyondell Chimie

Perstorp has successfully acquired specialty chemicals operations, including the production of TDI, HDI and HDI derivatives, from Rhodia Organics and Lyondell Chimie TDI SCA. The completion of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals. These deals follow the recent capacity expansions by Pertsop. The acquisition will increase the sales and operating profits of the company by over 30%, placing it as a market leader in this segment in Europe. The acquired production facilities are located in Pont-de-Claix in France and Freeport in Texas, USA. In 2007 the operations generated sales of approx. EUR 500 million. TDI is used as a crosslinker in polyurethane foams, HDI and its derivatives are used in coatings and elastomers - applications that require abrasive resistance, excellent light and outdoor stability.
