Brazil's state-controlled oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA, plans to build a US$6.5 billion petrochemical complex near Rio de Janeiro to help it process rising output of heavy crude from offshore fields and will have the capacity to process 150,000 bpd of oil.
The first phase of the project will produce 1.3 metric tons of ethane, 900,000 tons of propane, 360,000 tons of benzene and 700,000 tons of polyethylene, and other oil derivatives.
