Petrochemical industry posts negative growth in income for first time in 10 years

Total turnover in the petrochem sector in December 2008 dipped by 6.8% from a year ago levels. China's petrochemical industry is reported to have posted negative growth in income – its first decline in ten years, indicating the impact of the global financial crisis. The country’s petrochemical enterprises posted a combined turnover of almost 6.6 trillion yuan (US$963 bln) for the year 2008, an increase of 24% from a year ago levels.
