Petronas awards petchem contract to Samsung for two plants worth US$882 mln

PETRONAS Chemicals Group has awarded contracts worth a total of US$882 mln to Samsung Engineering to build two petrochemicals plants in Pengerang, Malaysia. One contract is for a 350,000 tpa capacity linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant – worth US$305 mln, and the other is for a 740,000 tpa capacity ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol (EO/EG) plant – worth US$577 mln. Construction will commence on 23 December on both plants, with date for completion provisionally set for April 2019
