Trans Polymer, a UK based company has entered into agreements for the purchase of plant and equipment, licenses for manufacturing process and feedstock supply for a plant to produce 248,000 tpa of PE initially. Capacity is planned to be increased to 360,000 tpa in the third year. The project, estimated to cost about US$480 million, will meet the entire demand for polyethylene of Pakistan. The company plans to export US$100 million worth of products in its first year of operation when its planned HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE production plant at Port Oasim, Pakistan, is completed.
