Praxair India has successfully commissioned a VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) plant to supply gaseous oxygen to Reliance Industries' (RIL) Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG-1) plant at Hazira. The VPSA plant (Model VS-100L) has a contractual capacity of 106 tonnes per day.
Praxair's VPSA plant uses patented radial adsorber bed leading to a very high level of reliability and efficiency. The oxygen supplied by this plant would go towards increasing RIL's production capacity of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) by enrichment of air, and the VPSA oxygen will also reduce manufacturing costs for Reliance.
