Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has awarded an EPC contract worth QR2 bln for a new low density polyethylene plant (LDPE-3) in Mesaieed Industrial City to Germany’s Uhde. LDPE-3 has been planned to come onstream in second half of 2011, with production capacity of 300,000 tpa low density polyethylene. The new plant will be integrated into the polyethylene production area inside the Qapco petrochemical complex in Mesaieed and is designed to use the excess ethylene produced by Qatofin and Qapco. Uhde’s scope of services and supplies covers project management, detail engineering, supply of all equipment and materials and construction work up to ready for feed-in.
