Qapco to sell surplus ethylene to Marubeni in a US$35 mln contract

10-Feb-09
Qapco plans to dispose of part of its additional ethylene to Japanese trader Marubeni in a US$35 mln deal. The company has been saddled with surplus ethylene after its 200,000 tpa cracker expansion was completed in September 2007. This is not the first time Qapco is dealing with Marubeni. Earlier, in 2008, Qapco sold around 35% of its ethylene through Marubeni to end users in Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Venezuela.
