Qatar plans to have the world's largest aromatics complex as a joint venture between QP subsidiary, Qatar Holding Intermediate Industries Company and Honam Petrochemical Corporation of South Korea. Besides aromatic compounds, the project will also produce propylene, polypropylene, styrene and polystyrene. The complex is planned to come onstream within two years.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) had already been signed between QP and Honam for the multibillion dollar joint venture at the Mesaieed Industrial City.
