Qatofin’s LLDPE plant to attain full capacity in H1-2011

Qatofin’s 450,000 tpa linear low-density polyethylene plant will reach full capacity by early part of 2011. Current run rates at the plant are pegged at 80% capacity, and remain at this level till end of year. The required ethylene feedstock is to be supplied through a 133 km pipeline from RLOC to Qatofin and Q Chem II. RLOC- Ras Laffan Olefins Company is the world’s largest single ethylene cracker with 1.3 mln tpa ethylene capacity. Qatofin is a joint venture involving Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) (63%), Total Petrochemicals of France (36%) and Qatar Petroleum (1%). The first commercial shipments from Qatofin started in May 2010. LLDPE will be sold through two marketing agreements via the extensive sales, marketing and distribution networks of Qatofin’s two major shareholders, Qapco and Total Petrochemicals.
