Reliance Industries has recorded a surge in Q2 net profit by 41.6% to Rs 24.81 bln as against Rs17.52 bln a year ago. The Q2 profit was driven by earnings from the core oil refinery business, which was robust in all the regions as product price increases were higher than the rise in crude oil prices.
Turnover for April-September 2005 stood at Rs. 427.77 billion ($9.718 billion) -27% higher than Rs. 336.10 billion in the like period of the previous fiscal.
Production of oil, gas and petrochemicals saw a 4% increase to 6.54 million tons for H1-2005, against 6.29 million tons for the corresponding previous period.
The company's refinery operated at 96% capacity utilisation and processed 15.87 million tons of crude for the half year.
