Following technical issues, Spain's Repsol has declared force majeure on supplies of high density polyethylene from its Sines plant in Portugal, as per Platts. The 150,000 tpa HDPE plant was shut down earlier this week. The company has two PE units and a steam cracker at the site. Repsol said the cracker and the second PE unit were operational.
"We are trying to minimize the commercial effects of this temporary shutdown and are doing our best efforts to solve the technical problem as soon as possible to try to reduce the consequences for our clients," the company said.
