Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp will restart its 700,000 tpa No. 1 naphtha cracker around end September or October, post-repairs, as per Reuters. Uncertainty shrouds the shutdown of its No. 2 cracker for maintenance, initially scheduled for maintenance on Aug. 20.
The Taiwanese major hopes to avoid a simultaneous shutdown of its Number 1 cracker and the Number 2 crackers as this would significantly impact Asian markets.
