China Petroleum & Chemical Corp (Sinopec) plans to double annual ethylene production capacity to 2 mln tons at Maoming in southern Guangdong province.
In September 2006, Sinopec had started operations at an expanded ethylene plant in Guangdong province ahead of schedule. One of the key units installed during the expansion project, a 640,000 tpa ethylene cracker, has started full operations.
