South Korea's Samsung Total Petrochemicals Co. Ltd. is considering a one week shutdown at its 650,000 tpa naphtha cracker in May for regular maintenance work. The company is a 50:50 joint venture between unlisted Samsung General Chemicals and French oil major Total SA and operates the country’s sole naphtha cracker.
South Korean petrochemical companies usually maintain their naphtha crackers every 2 or 3 years. This cracker was shut for about a month in May this year for regular turnaround.
