Saudi Eastern Petrochemical Co (SHARQ) has signed agreements for the
implementation of expansion of its petrochemical complex in Jubail. SHARQ is a joint venture equally owned by SABIC and SPDC Ltd, a Japanese consortium led
by the government of Japan and the Mitsubishi group of companies.
The three agreements have been signed with Stone and Webster Ltd., Foster Wheeler Ltd. and Linde-KCA-Dresden GMBH
Stone and Webster will carry out the engineering, supply and construction
of an ethylene plant with a designed annual capacity of 1.3mt. The project
completion date is scheduled for Q2 2008.
Foster Wheeler will construct the utilities and offsite facilities for
the SHARQ 3rd Expansion Project.
Linde-KCA-Dresden GMBH will engineer, supply and construct the linear low density (LLDPE) and high density (HDPE) polyethylene plants, with total annual capacity of 800,000mt which is expected to go on-stream by Q2 2008.
