Shaw Stone & Webster has finalized a contract for the previously announced letter of intent with Eastern Petrochemical Co. (SHARQ) for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a 1.3 million metric tpa ethylene plant in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The plant is to utilize Shaw Stone & Webster ethylene technology, for a contract valued at US$900 million.
The ethylene plant is expected to be completed in Q1 2008. The plant will provide ethylene for an ethylene-glycol plant and a polyethylene plant at the same location.
Earlier this year, Shaw Stone & Webster completed a 600,000 metric tpa ethylene plant in Nanjing, China for BASF-YPC.
