Zimmer AG has received from Chang Chun Chemical (Zhangzhou) Co. Ltd. a contract to supply a polyester polycondensation plant producing polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). The plant will be built in Zhangzhou and is due to go on-stream at the end of 2006. Zimmer will provide technology and equipment for the plant. Based on Zimmer's continuous low-pressure process, the PBT plant is designed to produce 200 tons of polymers per day, using terephthalic acid (PTA) and 1.4 butanediol as feedstock.
Chang Chun Chemical is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese Chang Chun Plastics Co. Ltd. in Kaoushiung/Taiwan. Chang Chun Plastics operates a PBT plant with reliability and highest product quality built by Zimmer in 2001.
