Singapore PCS plans to buy naphtha after outage at condensate splitter

02-Mar-09
Shell and Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (PCS) owned 70,000 bpd condensate splitter that had been shuttered due to a technical hitch, is scheduled for restart within two weeks. PCS does not intend to reduce output at its 1.09 mln tpa cracker at Jurong Island, maintaining operations at around 85% capacity. This has generated enquiries from the company seeking naphtha in a bid to cork break in supply caused by the interruption in production. The company is seeking 55,000 tons of spot naphtha for early-April arrival. If the shutdown is to extend until mid-March, the facility will require over 1.2 mln barrels less of condensate feedstock during this period.
