South Korean builder SK Engineering & Construction Co. has obtained an order from Kuwait's state-run Petrochemical Industries Co. to build a chemical plant for US$1.2 billion. SK has formed a consortium with Italian builder Tecnimont to clinch the order, that is 45% owned by SK and 55% by Tecnimont. As per the project, SK Engineering is to set up an aromatics production plant in the Shuaiba industrial area. The chemical plant is projected to have an annual capacity of 1.9 million tons of such aromatics compounds as palaxylene, benzene and naphtha, an official at SK Engineering & Construction said.
