Solvay's acquisition plans in Asia

Belgium's Solvay Group (with its joint venture with China's State Development Investment Corporation and Inergy Automotive Systems) plans to acquire Yangzhou Yapp Automotive Plastic Parts Company. Solvay's acquisition of a stake in a joint venture with NCI/Sinopec in a soda ash plant, is expected to be through in June/July 2005. Solvay has a license agreement to supply VCM (vinyl chloride monomer) technology to Singpu Chemical Industries. The 200,000 mta plant is due to be up and running in H1 of 2006. Results from a feasibility study are expected mid-2005, for Solvay's stake in vinyl production unit in Volgograd, Russia.
