19-Nov-10
Russian oil group Lukoil’s subsidiary Karpatnaftochim’s new electromembrane chlorine plant has started up at its Ukrainian site with capacity to 200,000 tpa of caustic soda and 180,000 tpa of chlorine. The chlorine will feed the new 300,000 tpa PVC line at the Ukrainian site, planned to commence production in December 2010 as per Plasteurope.com. Lukoil also reported that production in the C2 chain around 250,000 tpa of ethylene and 100,000 tpa of HDPE in Kalush resumed in August. The plants had been idled during the global economic crisis towards the end of 2008 and were then overhauled. The first deliveries were made in October 2010.
