At a board meeting in Calcutta, Tarun Das has offered to step down as the chairman of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL). He is of the opinion that the new government should have the discretion to appoint a new chairman. Former chief minister of West Bengal had requested Das to become the chairman of HPL.
