To allow maintenance work to take place, Thai Olefins PCL plans an 18 day shut down one of its ethylene plants from March 23. The plant will be out of action for less than the standard 30 days, and will go through yet another shut down in 2006, to allow capacity expansion.
The move is in line with the company's maintenance schedule, which has a shut down once every three years. The previous shut down for the number one plant, which has an annual capacity of 385,000 tons, was in 2002. The company's number two plant, which has an annual production of 300,000 tons, will operate as normal.
