Thai PTTCH plans maintenance shutdowns in 2008

Thailand's largest olefins maker PTT Chemical PCL (PTTCH), plans the following shutdowns: * Propylene unit for 30 days in Q2-2008. * Mono ethylene glycol (MEG) plant for 35 days in Q3-08, for capacity expansion by 95,000 tons from 300,000 tons * High density polyethylene (HDPE) plant, run by its Bangkok Polyethylene unit, for 30 days in Q3-08 * One of its olefins plants for 50 days to connect with an expanded unit, which would boost capacity of ethylene by 100,000 tpa and propylene by 50,000 tpa. PTTCH had a major shutdown for maintenance in the first half of 2007 during which it raised annual capacity of olefins products to 1.7 mln tons from 1.52 mln tons.
