Three key contracts relating to Qatofin project at Mesaieed have been awarded. These include:
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant awarded to Snamprogetti (Italy).
The marine works including the berth extension and seawater cooling system awarded to Archirodon (Greece).
Qatofin has been designed to produce about 450,000tpa of LLDPE with provisions for a further boost in capacity to 600,000 tpa. The project is scheduled for completion in Q4-08 and production is expected to commence in early 2009.
