Trinidad and South African companies to invest in petrochem plant

Phoenix Park Gas Processors Ltd- a Trinidad based company, is to partner with Isegen Pty Ltd- a South Africa firm to build $64 mln petrochemical plant in Trinidad. The partners plan to develop a maleic anhydride plant. Maleic anhydride is a chemical commonly used in the production of food additives, agricultural chemicals, fiberglass and plastics. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2008 and the plant is expected to come onstream in 18-24 months.
