Ineos Styrolution had a unit upset at its Pasadena, Texas, 1.7 billion lb/year styrene plant on Thursday, according to a message left on East Harris County Manufacturers Association hotline, as reported by Platts.
"Over the next few hours there could be some intermittent use of the plant's safety flare as the plant is being stabilized and starting back up," the company said. "There is also the chance that some high-pressure steam may be released during certain phases of the shutdown/start-up process, which could result in a loud noise and a white plume."
