Vinmar to supply orthoxylene from Jurong Aromatics Corp. into Asian markets from end-August

US-based Vinmar International will begin supplying 200,000 tpa of orthoxylene into Asian markets from end-August, as per a company source in Platts. The supplies were earlier expected to begin in early August, from Singapore's Jurong Aromatics Corp. aromatics plant. The plant was earlier expected to begin commercial production end-July but that has now been postponed to mid-August. Commissioning of the plant, which has the capacity to produce 800,000 tpa of paraxylene, 400,000 tpa of benzene and 200,000 tpa of OX, began in late July. "Most of our OX cargoes will be sold through contracts," the source said, but did not specify the contract to spot ratio. Another informed market source said the ratio is expected to be around 80:20.
