New York's main contract, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for January delivery, rose to settle at US$87.93 a barrel. Brent North Sea crude for February delivery climbed by over a dollar to US$108.84 a barrel in London. Oil prices have rallied amid indications Washington is inching closer to resolving a budget impasse that has threatened to drag USA-world No 1 crude consumer, back into recession.
