Sinopec plans to start construction of a 1 million tpa ethylene project in Tianjin in June. Construction of supporting projects is under way, including railway expansion, a 300,000 tpa crude oil dock, and a 100,000 ton/day desalination plant.
The entire project will involve an investment outlay of of 25 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) and will serve as the core of the petrochemical industry in the Chinese port city.
