Work is to commence on a US$1.5 bln petrochemical plant in Ibeno, Nigeria. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel said, “We have done the environmental impact assessment, the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) has been issued and the site has been cleared and ready for work to start. Once the gas purchase agreement with Exxon Mobile is finalised, work will commence immediately.” The governor also used the opportunity to commend the initiative of Mr. Jim Ovia, Chairman, Quantum Petrochemicals, for believing in the state. “We want to use this opportunity to thank the Chairman of Quantum Petrochemicals Company Limited for this huge investment in our state. ”
