Polymer emulsion defoamer for waterbased PVC paints

27-Nov-08
Germany-headquartered Cognis, a worldwide supplier of innovative specialty chemicals, has unveiled Dehydran SE 1, a polymer emulsion defoamer for high PVC waterbased paints for the European market. As per the company, the new defoamer will stand as a 'green' alternative to mineral-oil based defaomers for PVC water-based paints. The company has added this mineral-oil free and highly stable emulsion defoamer to its portfolio for architectural coatings. The company asserts Dehydran SE 1 is universally applicable and covers a wide paint PVC range: from premium flat to eggshell and semi-gloss. It is highly compatible and causes no haze or fogging. The product aims to eliminate the use of fossil fuel-based solvents from paints and is free of volatile organic compounds according to EU 2004/42 and US-EPA Method 24. It is also best in class with ultra-low contents of semi-volatile organic compounds and is odor-free. In addition to the high performance and environmental benefits, it also provides for a more 'stable' pricing relative to mineral oil based products.
