A new additive in the market from DuPont can improve the performance of a biodegradable polymer used in food packaging. The past five years packaging suppliers have been introducing various forms of biodegradable plastics which are made from a variety of plants. The additive improves performance of bio-based polylactic acid (PLA). The additive toughens PLA packaging materials while maintaining its compliance with food contact requirements in US and Europe.
