Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corporation is running its new Asia's largest 1.2 million tpa cracker at 60% capacity. The plant was started on Friday and is producing on-specification products and will be brought up to full capacity shortly. The new ethylene cracker will increase company's ethylene capacity to 2.9 million tpa from 1.7 million tpa. Ethylene produced by the cracker is used in downstream units operated by Formosa Plastics Group to produce a range of petrochemicals, plastics and synthetic fibers.
