BASF has shut down the 1.08 mln tpa cracker at Antwerp temporarily after a fire over the weekend at BASF Antwerpen. A blaze touched off by a leak in a naphtha feed line triggered the fire Sunday morning and was brought under control in early afternoon. No injuries have been reported. The duration of the shutdown and its impact on the European ethylene market is to be assessed.
