BASF AG plans to invest US$125 mln to boost its polyurethanes business in North America. The expansion plan includes :
Increasing production capacity for polyols at its site in Geismar, Louisiana
Building two new reactors
Overhauling two existing reactors used to produce polyols
Transfer a major part of the polyol production from its site in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Geismar.
All these measures will boost its annual polyols capacity in the US to 350,000 metric tons in 2008, up from 250,000 tons. Polyols are propylene oxide-based materials used to manufacture polyurethane products.
